After serving as Marketing Manager of the free zones of the Zeta Group for 12 years, Karla is currently at TEC as a Project and Cooperation Executive, where she leads projects and supports the linkage of external sectors with the Faculties, Res. Centers and TEC Departments. She is part of the team "Cartago Special Economic Zone" a joint work between: academia, companies, and government. She has generated great experience in the attraction of FDI, strengthening employment and links between firms.

Associate Professor of Industrial Environmental Management, Director of the Program on Solid Waste Policy, and Director of the Industrial Environmental Management Program

Marian Chertow is Associate Professor of Industrial Environmental Management and has been Director of the Industrial Environmental Management Program at the Yale since 1991. Her research and teaching focus on industrial ecology, business/environment issues, waste management, and environmental technology innovation. Prior to Yale, Marian spent ten years in environmental business and government including service as President of the Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority.

Dr. Hewes serves on the IS/EIDC Advisory Board and is the Environmental Manager of ecomaine, located in New England in the USA. She is responsible for managing ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001 certifications and continuous improvement in environmental protection at the Waste-to-Energy power plant, single-sort Recycling Facility and the 274 acre Ashfill & Landfill.
